I am a single mother of a fifteen year old son. I have multiple medical problems and could be considered disabled but I keep trying to work and support us. I was self employed for several years but the business got to be too much for me to handle with my disability so I sold it a year ago but had to take a note on the sale of the business as it was hard to find a buyer. The payments from the note were our only source of income but the guy who bought my business stopped making payments last October, he ran out of money. I spent all of January in the hospital. Once I got home I started looking for a job. It took me six months to find a job in this economy, even though I have excellent experience and talents. I was so happy and thankful to have found a job with our local county governemnt doing help desk work, somehing I could do with my disabilty, even though it was a much lower paying job than what I was used to, it would keep a roof over our heads. My savings was gone by this time and I lived off the generosity of friends for a month After one month on the job, with glowing reviews of my work, I was suddenly terminated and escorted off the premises for "sleeping on the job". I did not intentionally "go to sleep". I have fibromyalgia, diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and sleep apnea. I nodded off at my computer a couple of times because I had no work to do, I kept asking my boss to give me more work but he was not a good manager and did not know how to assign work or manage his resources. But my boss told me once "don't worry about it, it's no big deal". Then suddenly I am fired. Now my son and I are facing homelessness and beng destitute if I can't find another job that I am physically able to do within the next month. I fllled out paperwork with the EEOC for discrimination based on disabilty but that could take months. If anyone knows of any legitimate work from home jobs for peple with disabilities please let me know. Or any other reosurces you can think of that might keep us from losing our house and car and utilities.
